The Upstart Business Journal takes personal look at entrepreneurs, inventors, fashionistas, venture capitalists, risk takers, iconoclasts, hackers, artists, and do-it-yourselfers. The publication focuses on the people, innovations, and ideas behind today’s most dynamic and entrepreneurial companies.  Upstart’s mission is to cover and connect the entrepreneurs and emerging companies shaping the next phase of the global economy.
In February 2015, the team released their inaugural Upstart 100 class of rebels, dreamers, contrarians, and big thinkers.
“They’re here because they’re not like the others — a necessity in this new economy,” the Upstart team wrote of the list.
The list includes 4 people from the VegasTechFund portfolio:
– Ayah Bdeir, CEO of littleBits (read more here)
– Michael Karnjanaprakorn, CEO of Skillshare (read more here)
– Emma McIlroy & Julia Parsley, co-founders of Wildfang (read more here)
– Tanisha Robinson, CEO of Print Syndicate (read more here)
“The concept was simple enough, really: Find 100 people who truly stood out over the past 12 to 16 months, vanguards who weren’t following anyone’s rules but setting off on paths others would follow,” wrote J. Jennings Moss, Upstart Business Journal Editor. “In the end, we considered 600-plus formal nominations from our own staff members, and more from American City Business Journal journalists at our sibling publications in 43 U.S. cities, and even more from our readers.”
