The Downtown Project App is Live

Today, Downtown Project launched their new community app, which is available in the Apple App store. Download the free DTP App to keep up with many of the latest happenings in Downtown Las Vegas.
“One of the biggest challenges with the growing energy in Downtown is keeping up with all of the great events that are happening every week,” explained Kim Schaefer, writer, editor, storyteller, daydreamer, wide-eyed observer at DowntownProject.com. “We wanted to create a way to share information about events and venues, as well as a way for people to submit their own relevant events.”
The team at Downtown Project says they were really lucky to work with Vegas Tech’s own Raster Media to build the app.
When asked about the challenges with developing the app, Kim Schaefer said much of the work on the app was spent on the calendar feature.
“The whole challenge of an events calendar is that it seems like such an easy fix, but it’s actually really much more complicated: Which events do you share? How do you collect them?” she said. “It’s also really time-consuming gathering information from so many disparate sources. There’s just no way to be everything to everyone. So we’re just trying to focus primarily on events that are happening within the llama and elsewhere Downtown that we think will be meaningful to our audience.”
So, what’s Kim’s favorite feature on the app?
“I’m not going to lie–I love that the icon for the app itself is a llama. It’s too funny and too cool,” she said.
