Lesley McVay
Switch Executive Vice President of Data Center Services Lesley McVay has been selected as one of the top five most influential women in the data center industry by Colocation America. Colocation America’s 5th annual Top 5 list honors women in the technology industry who are outstanding strategic leaders, as well as advocates for their industry.
McVay joined Switch in 2005. Her responsibilities within SUPERNAP’s data centers include managing client installations and overseeing client services, including colocation, power, and connectivity.
“I began my career with Switch in my mid-twenties and was fortunate enough to have a CEO in Rob Roy who provided insightful mentorship and support, which has directly enabled me to develop the skill set and knowledgebase that have made a positive impact in how I lead my department and work to inspire others,” shared McVay.
Roy identified McVay’s unique ability to connect with Switch’s external and internal stakeholders, as well as her drive to build strong client relationships and champion company culture for future Switch leaders.
“Lesley’s recognition by data center experts is a testament to her excellence in leadership and strategic vision,” Roy said. “Switch is proud of shattering the industry average of women in leadership roles, with 50 percent of our team being comprised of incredibly talented and capable female leaders and Lesley exemplifies that team,” he added.
In a Top 5 Women in the Data Center Industry first, Coalition America included an entire female executive team, all of whom are part of Switch’s leadership force. Currently, Switch has the largest representation of women on an executive team within the data center landscape.
“Although women represent 59 percent of the work force, they only hold 22.5 percent of leadership roles within the technology industry,” says Samantha Walters, VP of Online Strategies at Colocation America. “Despite the low representation, it is actually increasing every year.”
