ThreadLab is a convenient and affordable clothing service for busy guys who don’t have the time or interest to shop for new clothes. The team uses data science to find the best fitting brands, sizes and cuts for each customer’s body. Then, they determine the best quality based on the customer’s specific price ranges. Added to the mix is same-day free shipping, easy returns, and amazing customer service.
“We met some VegasTechFund and Zappos folks through our CTO, Mat Pollard’s network. We came out to visit Downtown Las Vegas and loved the community,” said Will Hench, Co-Founder of ThreadLab. “We hit it off with George, Zach and Will from VTF. We want to leverage and learn from the local network of Zappos folks plus all the e-commerce and tech start-ups in the community. We just set up the ThreadLab office in downtown last month.”
Will’s brother and co-founder Andrew Hench is located in Las Vegas full-time running operations, while Will is commuting back and forth from New York City area.
“We heard the #VegasTech community it is a very open and friendly start up community,” said Andrew Hench on the team’s move to Las Vegas. “We’ve been experiencing it first hand from the moment we were introduced to VTF and first flew out to check out the community. The founders we have met thus far are all super talented, generous with their time and open to help in any way that they can. We want to help out in any way we can and share our experiences, our knowledge and our network to continue to build out the start-up community here in Vegas.”
The duo says the biggest challenge since founding ThreadLab has been inventory management, especially while bootstrapping a personalized e-commerce business which requires a wide range of products and sizes.
“It’s forced us to be creative and resourceful with our product sourcing and the deals we set up with our partners so that we can offer a wide variety of products and a fully personalized experience to our customers,” explained Andrew.
The team’s biggest success for ThreadLab to date has been the launch of their automated recommendation engine.
“We want our customers to have the smoothest and most effective experience possible to make their day to day lives super easy,” said Will. “Earlier this year, we switched the last few manual dependencies over to automation so that our customers have a simple, seamless experience with ThreadLab. Launching our automated recommendation engine in production was definitely one of our biggest success points thus far and our customers are loving it.”
So far, this startup’s team is enjoying calling Las Vegas home.
“The network of tech and e-commerce start-up experts is incredible,” said Will. “The VTF partners and portfolio company founders have all been open, engaging and helpful and there is a real family feel to the community in DTLV. I think there’s a different feel here from the feeling you get in NYC, SF or Silicon Valley in that the people here in Vegas aren’t just building their own start-up but we are all part of a bigger movement that’s just getting started from scratch and we are all in it together building something amazing.”
ThreadLab is currently hiring for their new Las Vegas office. They are currently looking for a Junior Front End Developer, Junior Back End Developer, Customer Acquisition Expert, and Operations/Customer Service Interns. Those interested in learning more about the positions can send the team an email and their resume to [email protected].
“We are also looking to add new menswear brands to our catalog,” added Andrew. “Email [email protected] if you’d like to partner up and get your brand on the ThreadLab platform!”
