About Startup Weekend Events

Startup Weekend events bring together bright, passionate people to create powerful connections.
Entrepreneurship can be a lonely path, and events like Startup Weekends help individuals with big goals get started on the right path with others who are moving the same direction.
It’s an opportunity you can’t duplicate behind a computer screen.
Through education, coaching, collaboration, and practice, business-minded people get the tools they need to go from dreamers to doers.
The most difficult part of starting any new business is actually getting started, and that’s why there are Startup Weekends.

How Youth Startup Weekend Works

Beginning on Friday, March 31 at 6 PM, ambitious young people have time to meet, have dinner, network, and build a team.
During dinner, attendees talk to each other about their ideas and practice pitches – they’ll have a minute to share their pitch with the entire group.
Before the night ends, the group votes for the best pitch.
On Friday night, teams come together to work on specific ideas. For the rest of the weekend, these teams are going to work together to build a killer startup plan.
Saturday’s agenda begins at 10 AM with breakfast and more collaboration, as young people work together to refine their ideas.
Mentors and coaches arrive at the end of the day to work with teams and individuals.
Students learn from experts and work hands-on to build the skills or lay the foundation to turn the team’s basic idea into viable startup strategy that will wow the judges.
On Sunday, teams put the final touches on their projects, and then each team gets 5 minutes to present their proposal in front of the panel of judges.
It’s a real chance to pitch, collaborate, and win in a safe, classroom environment.
