Startup Weekend is a 54-hour event where developers, designers and business folks come together to pitch an idea and launch a business, all in one weekend. It is a great opportunity to test startup ideas, meet potential co-founders, build the community in Las Vegas, and launch your next startup.
This time around, Startup Weekend Las Vegas will be organized by UNLV students and will take place Friday, November 20 – 22, 2015. The event starts at 6:30pm and will be held at UNLV’s Beam Hall located at 4505 S. Maryland Pkwy in Las Vegas.
“This class is the capstone course for seniors who are majoring in event management. It is the highest-level course you can take in the event catalog, and is titled Event & Festival Management,” said Kaity Daly, Marketing Student Manager of Startup Weekend Las Vegas. “During this course we plan two events and work on-site for them as well. We picked to help plan this event because it will actually be taking place at UNLV!”
Daly says no one in her class has ever attended or helped plan the Startup Weekend before, so each of them is very excited to have the opportunity to help in planning the event.
“There are many reasons that you should attend Startup Weekend,” explained Daly. “The most obvious reason you should attend is because you will get the opportunity to work as a team, meet very prominent professionals, participate and innovate. The connections that you will make from the weekend– whether it be the individuals you work with or the professionals that mentor you—will be crucial in your pursuit of starting your own career!”
“Startup Weekend is awesome for entrepreneurs because it allows for them to share their ideas and receive mentoring from professionals throughout the weekend,” continued Daly. “This weekend is a great way for entrepreneurs to build their connections and meet very important professionals in all types of industries.”
