The May 2014 Tech Cocktail Week is going to be a great week for downtown Las Vegas. On May 7th, Tech Cocktail Week: Sessions will feature Re/code’s Kara Swisher.
“Kara Swisher is a veteran Silicon Valley journalist, before with All Things D and now with Recode,” said Justin Thorp, VP of Marketing & Community Development at Tech Cocktail. “She’s seen and told the story of every major tech company and technological advancement of the last 20+ years.”
“What’d Newton say, “If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” Vegas is still very early in the life cycle of a tech/startup community and ecosystem,” he continued. “If you have the opportunity, it behooves you to stand on some shoulders because you will see farther.”
In this upcoming Tech Cocktail fireside chat, the Tech Cocktail team says Kara Swisher is not only going to share the stories behind her career, but the mindset and attitudes that made San Francisco and Silicon Valley what it is.
“There’s so much that Vegas and every startup community can learn from hearing these,” Justin Thorp says.
Tech Cocktail’s Sessions is a monthly speaker series part of Tech Cocktail Week. Sessions brings the experiences of successful entrepreneurs, investors and other industry experts directly to the community. Hear their stories in their own words and ask them your questions in an intimate setting.
Past speakers brought to Downtown Vegas have included Atari founder Nolan Bushnell, Blip Co-founder Dina Kaplan, Moon Express founder Naveen Jain, Heidi Sieck from Democracy.com and many others. Sessions events happen in Downtown Vegas, Chicago and Washington DC – watch videos from past Tech Cocktail Sessions events around the country.
