Join Las Vegas leaders, entrepreneurs and change makers for a transformational evening on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 6:00pm at Inspire Theatre in downtown Las Vegas. The event, Alexia Vernon’s Female Disruptors, brings women leading big movements in Las Vegas on stage!
Alexia Vernon“I lead a women’s leadership development program, Influencer Academy, which this fall will go into its fourth year,” said Alexia Vernon. While this program serves a select cohort of high potential women across industries and sectors who go through a 9-month experience together, each year as a kickoff I produce a one-night event that is open to the community around a theme that integrates with both what I’m seeking to do with IA and what is “hot” in the women’s leadership space. “Female Disruption” felt so spot on – the idea that women can (and should!) disrupt both their industries and the usually predominantly male leadership in them. And we definitely have some awesome, disruptive women taking the stage!”
Sara HillOne of the speakers hitting the stage is a notable figure in the #VegasTech community Sara Hill. Sara is Co-founder and Managing Partner for The Mill, an Idea and Startup Accelerator established in 2014 in downtown Las Vegas. She works daily to empower entrepreneurs and help mentor startups to success. Hill also teaches the Innovation and Teams course at UNLV as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Experience minor and volunteers her time with Global Shapers, TEDx Las Vegas and judging startup weekends and local hackathons.
“Sara will be talking about the innovative approach to incubating new ideas at The Mill versus just companies,” said Vernon. “The Mill, as many in the Vegas Tech community (but not necessarily larger Las Vegas community) know, gives founders a unique and privileged space to test ideas at their infancy, as well as providing an incubator for businesses a bit further along on their start-up path.”
Other speakers include Lynda Tache, the Founder/President of the Grant a Gift Autism Foundation, and Mauricia Baca, Executive Director of the Outside Las Vegas Foundation.
Vernon says the speakers will be addressing everything from how to empower 21st century girls, what it means to be financially empowered, to what we get wrong about work-life-family integration, to outdoor education and environmental justice, to a new model of autism training for Southern Nevada doctors.
“You can look at the full speaker line-up here,” noted Vernon. “And we still have a handful of tickets left. Advanced purchase of tickets is required.”
